Zone Pedal supports FTMS, Cycling Power Service, and FE-C over BLE to cover about 90% of modern smart trainers.
How It Works
Zone Pedal supports three BLE protocols: FTMS, Cycling Power Service, and FE-C over BLE. FTMS is the primary path for full resistance control, while FE-C over BLE is used as a fallback for trainers like the Tacx Neo 2T.
FTMS
The modern Bluetooth trainer control standard used by most current direct-drive and wheel-on smart trainers.
Cycling Power Service
Power and cadence data channel used for reliable ride telemetry and tighter zone feedback during workouts.
FE-C over BLE
Fallback support for specific trainers that do not expose FTMS but still support controllable resistance over BLE.
This protocol mix covers roughly 90% of modern trainers (2020+). Older ANT+ only trainers may still work with a CABLE bridge adapter (about $200).
